The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) is an initiative established by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, through its Innovation Cell (MIC) in 2018. Its main goal is to systematically foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship across all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in India.
IICs are set up within colleges and universities to encourage, inspire, and support students and faculty to work on new ideas and turn them into prototypes and start-ups. The councils organize various activities like workshops, seminars, hackathons, and competitions related to innovation, entrepreneurship, design thinking, and intellectual property rights. They also connect students with industry professionals, mentors, and investors, helping to create a vibrant local innovation ecosystem on campuses.
